With Halloween fast approaching here are some suggestions of things to do in County Sligo.
22nd – 31st October. The Mad Hatter Children’s Festival at the Hawk’s Well Theatre. Something for children of all ages and great fun for all.
23rd – 29th October. Sligo Live Festival. Live events throughout the town with many of them free. Headliners include Boomtown Rats, Bosco, Dara O’Brian, Bootleg Beatles and more.
26th – 28th October. Banada Banshee Bash. Head to Banada in South Sligo to visit to Haunted House, the Forest Fun Walk or visit the Vortex.
27th October. 10am -12noon Beltra Country Market have a Halloween Fancy Dress for all ages and Best Carved Pumpkin competition. Free event, all welcome.
27th October. 2pm – 4pm. Family Fun Day at Johnston Court, Sligo. Face painting, balloon modelling, tricks and treats in this fun day for all. Free event.
27th October 7pm. Sligo Dark Tales Halloween Walking Tour. Explore Sligo’s dark history on a walking tour revealing Sligo’s turbulent past with stories of the undead, executions, jail-breaks, disease & macabre tales. Fancy dress is encouraged for this one.
27th and 28th October. The Hazelwood Haunting returns, this got fantastic reviews last year and is said to be better than ever this year. Suitable for children over 9 and adults. There will be an event for the under 9’s on Sunday 28th. This sold out quickly last year so don’t miss out.
October 27 to November 10 Easkey Scarecrow Festival. This is always an excellent event as you walk through the village and see the brilliant scarecrows. Suitable for all ages, free event.
30th October. Hawk’s Well Theatre. A special Halloween-themed Brick Flicks (Lego stop motion) workshop. You will learn how to make a spooky set, create a zombie invasion and then have your favourite Lego character save the day! This books out quickly so don’t miss out.
31st October from 3-5pm . Little Monsters Halloween Disco in Dromore west Community Centre. €3 per child.
